A full notice for a newspaper, funeral home, or the memorial page itself — in the order families expect.
- Dates, places, and surviving family
- Work, service, and what filled the years
- Service details, if they are set

Write a sympathy message
A few lines for a card, a candle, or the guestbook — when you know what you feel and not how to say it.
- Who died and who you are writing to
- One memory or detail, if you have one
- How formal the relationship is
