Biography
James Kottak was a powerhouse behind the drum kit, a musical talent whose rhythms became the backbone of some of rock’s most iconic tracks. Born on December 26, 1962, in Louisville, Kentucky, Kottak discovered his passion for music early in life, paving his way to becoming one of the most notable drummers of his generation.
Kottak gained early recognition as an original member of the hard rock band Kingdom Come, serving as their drummer from 1987 to 1989. His dynamic performances contributed to the band’s rise during a critical period in their career. After a brief hiatus, he rejoined Kingdom Come in 2018, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the craft and his love for the music that shaped his life.
In 1996, Kottak's career reached new heights when he joined the legendary German hard rock band Scorpions, replacing Herman Rarebell. Over the next two decades, Kottak became the longest-serving drummer in the band’s history, touring the globe and leaving an indelible mark on their iconic sound.
