Epitaph

Bobby Osborne, whose high notes soared as high as the Rocky Tops he sang of. His voice, his mandolin, his music - echo in our hearts forever."

Biography

Bobby Osborne, born December 7, 1931, was a celebrated bluegrass vocalist and mandolin player who passed away at the age of 90. Born and raised in Hyden, Kentucky, Bobby, along with his brother Sonny Osborne, contributed significantly to the bluegrass genre. They are best known for their iconic hits like "Ruby, Are You Mad at Your Man?" and "Rocky Top," which have become staple songs in country and bluegrass music.

The Osborne Brothers were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Association's Hall of Honor in 1994 and received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. After the Osborne Brothers disbanded in the mid-2000s, Bobby formed his own band, the Rocky Top X-Press.

Bobby Osborne continued performing and recording well into his 80s, leaving a lasting legacy in the music industry until his death in 2023. His distinct high lead vocals, innovative mandolin playing, and his commitment to his music will be greatly missed.
