Noriko Grant found her final rest on December 29, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held January 5th at 10:30am at the Wildflower Hall located at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. Noriko’s favorite color was blue so please feel free to wear blue.
Noriko Grant was born in Tokyo, Japan on August 18, 1946, to Masa and Shigekazu Matsumoto. She was the oldest of four children. From a young age Noriko had a passion for sewing and making clothes and reading.
She met the love of her life William Dino Grant, they were married in 1972 and were married for 22 years. They had one daughter, Tina Louise Grant.
They opened a restaurant in Japan and a cooking star was born. Noriko loved to cook and knew the way to people’s hearts was through the stomach. They wanted to provide American southern style cooking for the airman near Yokota Airforce Base. So, Noriko learned the ways of southern style cooking from her husband’s grandparents and flourished as a cook. She was known for her Gumbo, peach cobbler, greens, and her Mac and Cheese! The family decided to move to the beautiful island of Guam in 1984, where they raised their daughter.
Noriko was preceded in death by her husband William Dino Grant and then Noriko devoted her life to helping her daughter and raising her precious grandchildren. Isreal William Ray was her baby, Jayden Isaiah was her sweetheart, and Lia Nikole was her beloved Tina times two!! She fed everyone that came through the doors of their home. She loved to sew and made many sets of clothes and jewelry to anyone that loved her designs. She had a love for flowers which led to her passion for gardening and beautiful flowers bloomed all over their yard.
